Last month I finally finished Never Let Me Go, which I had for- I think- my 16ed birthday from my beloved friend Imme. So that's almost two years a go. I quit reading it back then after a few weeks but started reading in it again a while a go. After that I read Looking for Alaska. I really liked them both. I'm really into reading these days, probably also because my boyfriend is too and we like to spend time wandering through bookshops. We bought a lot of books lately for small prices in thrift stores. He's really into Murakami these days. I'm more into...
I don't know. I do know that I should actually be reading French books for my French exams. I'm not that good in French at all so I cheat and read them in Dutch first. All I wanna do is read in Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, which is an odd book so far, but in a good way. Though I'm stuck hanging out with my 19th century friend Alain-Fournier (in the picture below). I guess Le Grand Meaulnes isn't that bad but well, it can be pretty dull or rather slightly wordy. It's kinda complicated to explain why I still have to do some of my French exams and am not finished yet like the rest of the people, so I don't think I'm going to bother to do so (for the Dutchies: staatsexamen).

I set a goal on goodreads: read 12 books this year. I'm pretty sure I'll manage. So, tell me about the book you're reading at the moment (is it good, why or why not?), or books you want to read in the near future?

  1. I set my goal at goodreads to read 40 books this year and I'm halfway through. I like to keep track of the books I read through that site. I hope you enjoy everything you read during the rest of the year! I haven't read anything by Alain-Fournier though.

  2. I just finished brothers karamazov and really loved it. I first read looking for alaska when I was 12 I think, but then read it again around a month ago, but I think I liked it better before. now that I've grown up I'm more cynical so it doesn't have so much emotional impact on me.

  5. hi lovely! i'm on goodreads too, but in tems of books, i recommend haruki marakami novels like kafka on the shore or norweigan wood. his ability to use words to convey emotions and articulate his thoughts are truly unmatchable. i've nearly finished all of his work x

  6. Hi Isa <3

It's the first time I get in contact with you, previously was just wondering around.
I really liked 'Just Kids' by Patti Smith, 'Slaughterhouse-Five' by Kurt Vonnegut and 'White Oleander' by Janet Fitch.
And thank you for mentioning Alain-Fournier, I'll keep my eye on him.
